Qualifying tournaments for the High School Tournament of Champions are held by
the regional colleges and universities. Some invitational tournaments will also
serve as qualifying tournaments.
A student must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd at a regional scholastic or curriculum
contest to qualify for the HSTOC.
8th Grade students placing in one of the high school categories at one of the
high school tournaments may take the HSTOC test.
Each test will be 50 minutes in length. Students may leave the room when
finished testing.
If calculators are needed they will be provided. Students will not be allowed to
bring their own calculators. The type of calculator being provided will be
announced prior to the HSTOC.
Tests will be graded and scores posted at the end of each hour.
An awards assembly will be held when the final tests are scored, approximately
2:30.
Trophies will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Questions will be
weighted to avoid ties, however, if scores are still tied duplicate awards will
be presented.
We understand that May 9 is a day that has the possibility of many conflicts. If
the facility is capable of hosting us on Friday night and Saturday we will have
a Friday night session for students unable to attend on Saturday.
Watch for updates.
